Climate:
High altitude arid, cold winters and dry summers, with an abundance of sunshine all year.

Context:
The seven-acre lot is within a residential suburb of Denver. The neighborhood is composed of custom single-family homes on large lots that have retained a country feel with open fields and tall clusters of cottonwood trees.

Brief Description:
This 36,000 square foot home, office, and sports complex was designed for a bachelor with passions for contemporary art, memorable entertaining, bold business transactions, and competitive sports.

Guiding Metaphor:
James Bond’s Clubhouse

Structural Systems:
Concrete and concrete masonry, steel, and wood framing.

Green Features:
Extensive daylighting in all areas, the
use of light colored finish materials to optimize the daylighting, passive solar heating many areas of the home, utilization of an existing home on the property, an innovative water to air
heat pump heating system that utilized the swimming pool as a heat sink,
over 900 square feet of solar-thermal collectors, and internal mass.

Other Noteworthy Features:
The home includes one of the finest frontenis courts in the world, which is heated by glare-free passive solar and illuminated by natural daylight.
